VAT, the Számlázz.hu and courier label plugins €65 a year net combined, backups and security (UpdraftPlus, Wordfence) about $219, a premium theme (Astra Pro) $69 a year and shop maintenance starts from 29,900 Ft a month net. Poltura in euros on yearly billing: Start €15, Plus €30, Pro €75 a month, excl. VAT.

How we calculate this

  • Compared on yearly billing, as a twelfth of the yearly price; the switch shows monthly billing. Excluding VAT, rounded to whole amounts.
  • Payment provider fees (Barion, SimplePay, Stripe, Shopify Payments) and courier fees are excluded on both sides.
  • Poltura extras per month: one more team member 1,990 Ft, one more language 1,990 Ft, 1,000 more products 2,990 Ft.
  • Prices are net as of 28 October 2026; hosting uses the renewal price, not a first-year offer.
  • By default we tick what a typical local shop needs: card payments, automatic invoicing, couriers, backups and security and a premium theme.
  • Yearly prices are shown as a monthly share; euro and dollar licences use the ECB reference rate of 27 October 2026 (€1 = 367.48 Ft, €1 = $1.115).
  • Each line takes the cheapest credible paid option; free versions exist: the official Billingo and carrier plugins, MailPoet up to 500 subscribers, the basic UpdraftPlus and Wordfence and free themes, so a small shop can cover these for 0 Ft.
  • LiveChat is priced per user; the premium theme uses Astra Pro's yearly licence, while Flatsome is a one-off $59.
  • The domain, payment provider, invoicing service and courier fees are paid separately on both sides, so neither side includes them.
  • Your own time is counted as 2 hours a month at 5,000 Ft an hour; agency maintenance starts at 29,900 Ft a month net, and you pick one of the two.

This comparison was made on 27 October 2026 from WooCommerce's publicly available pages (sources in each table row and below). Plans are compared on yearly billing, as the monthly average excluding VAT; monthly prices are shown beside them. Transaction and payment provider fees, and the cost of separately paid apps, are included only where stated. We chose the points from features that matter to Hungarian online shops; the list is not exhaustive. WooCommerce's plans, prices and features may change, so their own pages are authoritative. Questions

Isn't WooCommerce cheaper because it is free?

The software is free, but a working shop is not: with hosting, invoicing and courier plugins, backups, security and a premium theme, a typical local shop comes to about 11,900 Ft a month net before maintenance. With free plugins and your own upkeep it can drop to around 2,000 Ft a month, but updates, backups and security are then yours to handle. Use the calculator below to work it out for your shop.

What does WooCommerce do better?

You own the code and the server, there is no product limit, and there is a plugin for almost anything. If you have a developer to maintain it, that freedom is worth a lot.
